Ben Ward earned his MFA in Painting from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2008. Known both for his alla prima portraiture and dynamic quick-sketch drawings, Ward lives at the intersection of painting and illustration. Possessing a wicked sense of humor, Ben’s works are not only observational, but often satirical. He has received acclaim exhibiting his drawings and paintings throughout galleries in New York City, Atlanta, Savannah and Miami, Serbia, and Montenegro. Ben has created illustration commissions for VH1, Felt Films, and SCADstory, and his works reside in private collections throughout the United States and Europe. Ward is currently a full time Professor in the Illustration epartment at SCAD in Savannah, Georgia. While there’s no denying Ben’s passion for art, he is at his core, always a teacher and takes great pride and satisfaction in mentoring young artists. When he’s not drawing, painting, or teaching, Ben loves spending time with friends and family, restoring vintage Eames chairs, and desperately trying to avoid hitting trees while playing an insanely competitive game of disc golf.
